The last post i had is in feb?!
OMG. I'm shocked. haha. Andrea,
yes, i'm shocked. It just didn't feel that long
ago. Guess school really bugged me down big time.

Well, my 2nd semester in school is quite a crazy term.
I had alot of things to write, read, research on, present on
and filming as well for school. But it's over for now until
it starts all over again in September. Hopefully they will
spare us for the next year since the accreditation excerise
is over and done with!

Well, the good thing is that i get to go to Hong Kong for the
first time in my life. Love the weather there although when i came
back from that trip, i was damn tired out. It's a part holiday part school trip
kinda thing. I should post some photos of it but i'm lazy to get down to
sorting the photos i took.

For now, it's getting more jobs and enjoy more summer holiday blockbusters!

Cleaning up the dust for my cousin

Life is quite a standstill for now.
Hate school as usual. Feb got no jobs, just as yet.
Tomorrow is V day and i feel slightly sad that i will
have to spend it without a special someone.

There are things i want to do but $$ is the issue.
I want to buy lights and camera for my business but
that will cost like 10k.

IF i'm not studying now. I can probably be earning
money and work at improving my port folio.

I'm so stuck in life now. Neither here nor there.

This year, i had a quiet New year spent watching the ships anchored
along singapore fire their flares into the night sky. Only pity is, not
all of them fired. If all of them did so synchonised, it'll be a sight
to behold. It was really quite quiet. All i hear is my brother and his
GF's voice, my camera snapping and my voice going, press, steady,
don't shake so much, click, click...

I have not really thought of my resolutions for this year yet.
But one thing is for sure, i'm going to go phuket somewhere
during jan or feb. That probably is my first resolution? haha.
I wanted to leave on monday but it's peak period and everything
seems so expensive. So, i might wait til Feb. End January is CNY
so i can't forget about that, unless.. hmm... don't think so la.
My traveling partner will probably want to stay and visit relatives.

Well, today is boxing day and my cousin's birthday too!
Happy birthday andrea!

My christmas this year is not that bad compared to the
previous few years. In fact, it's quite a ride.

I had school christmas celebration at NTUC chalet on the
23rd. It's been such a long time that i stayed over at a chalet.
I was surprise by the how much Downtown East changed!
And so, it was a pretty fun party. I'm kinda surprise how
united this pioneer batch of Chapman students are.
We had games, food, alcohol (i didn't and can't drink)
christmas presents!

My classmate baked this for everyone. Personalised!

Another classmate who took the effort to type out a quote. Very good quote. I'll post it up next.

My christmas present!

There are 2 bad thing though. First, I lost my phone that night.
Although, i kinda like the feeling that no one can bug me
on the phone. Second, it was raining that night, and my shoes
were drained. :S I went back my tampines place to get my
replacement shoes. My trusty army boots. This boots had been
gone through alot with me during my army days.

Christmas Eve was spent in Church after which i went back to
tampines place to pick up my replacement SIM card, took a
cab back home because it's already 1130pm and i have to
wake up at 630am the next day for church. I spent the first
few mins of christmas in the cab deleting smses from my mother's
phone. Mostly 4D results throughout the year. haha. I always tease
her, if she doing like a research on patterns for 4D results, in the hope
of finding it and striking it rich. I finally lay my head to rest at 2am.

I woke up to a pleasant surprise. My brother and his gf gave me the
BIGGEST present i ever had in my life. Minus God's gift to me that is. :D
God's gift is the biggest ever. Nothing can top Jesus. Anyway, back to
the biggest 'human' present. There's noway i can top their gift.
So after church, i went shopping with some friends for their christmas
presents. I got a pair of Fossil watch for them. I like them pretty much
but they wanted to return to me. haha. But, i persuaded them to keep it.
Then, i slept at 3am, playing song guessing games with some classmate
online. Woke up at 12pm, grab lunch and went for my much needed hair
cut. Typing this blog now in the office, preparing to go for a job later.

And, i really really really need a holiday. haha. sigh.

Heavy workload week

Right now as i'm typing, i am feeling so exhausted.
Last week til this week has been a crazy week.
Last week is the last week for my semester 1 in Chapman
and as usual, all the final assignments for the respective
course are due for grading plus test.

I have 3 written assignments, 2 test and in the midst of all
that, i've got jobs in between them. One for SSO, one for MOE,
one for Fendi, one for centrepoint and not to mention editing
about 2k of photos for a wedding i shot a couple of weeks ago.
Because of all the assignments and work, i can only start
working on the weddings photos on saturday to rush for the
monday deadline. Today, i have shoot at Suntec and i don't
want to think about the post editing i have to do for Fendi.

Funds are running bit low too. Need to chase for checks to come
in fast. Man, i'm so tire. i need a holiday.

Yes. I'm in the office on a public holiday.
In fact, i didn't even know it's a public holiday
until my classmate pointed it out to me.
To me, public holiday or no p.holiday doesn't
matter me at all. Completely irrevelant. Except
maybe for CNY, any other holidays is just another
day for me. Anyway, i'm not here to rant about this.

This morning, is a great morning to sleep in. I woke
up at 5ish to the bloodly irritating bird crooking outside
my window, it's so loud, it feels like just right outside my window
which i think it really is. Trying my best to ignore it, i drifted back
to my sleep and woke up to find that it's a cool rainy morning.

Time check. 8am. Alright, i will snooze til 9am. I got too much
things to do, can't sleep in too much. I jolt out of my sleep at 9.07am
and go on with my daily routine.

I was enjoying the cold weather with cold wind blowing at my face
I'm all prepared with a warm jacket on. I love that feeling. I'm going
to listen to some slow soothing christmas tunes on my ipod on the
bus, with raindrops on the window of the bus.

On the bus, i realise something about myself. My emotions are pretty
raw in december. I think back to the last few decembers and found that
it's quite a constant phenomenon that happens to me. It might be the rain,
or the cold weather that evokes something in me. Now that i think about it,
December makes me feel vulnerable. Is it because it's the end of the year?
or is it because of a longing i have (my previous post)? I'm not too sure.
But i'm sure, i hardly feel what i'm feeling now throughout the year. I
wouldn't allow myself to get trapped in my current state, as it really
affects my emotional state.

December and christmas. Its a love-hate season, to be jolly, fa la
la la la la la la la. Hey, at least the people whose culture to celebrate
christmas have make singapore to be part of it. They included not 1 but
8 la(s) to the christmas song they sing. :D

I'm feeling better everyone. Last week for my Semester.
Got 3 assignments + 2 test this week. Then it's break
time. Not to forget i still got jobs this week, post
editing for a wedding. Still busy!

This year is ending, and it's pretty quick year i feel.
Christmas is around the corner and this year, is going
to be another year where i won't be able to go some
where where there's snow. :( I always fantasize about
celebrating christmas in winter wear, with my gf/wife,
cold wind blowing our face, playing and strolling along
the snow, listening to nice chill christmas songs at the
fireplace, cuddling each other etc... :) will carrying on
dreaming.

back from cold turkey - update part 1

I'm saved by my aunt from a cold turkey of laptop-less.
Thank you aunt audrey! You da best!
Although i was planning to get a macbook pro, but we
don't seem to be fated for each other. Nevertheless,
I'm still very contended with what i have in my hands
now. A new macbook 2.4ghz.

Back to update on my life.
Work life... my website should be out next week
so watch out for it! And i have another blog just
for my thought life of work and stuff i've been
shooting. Watch out for that.

School.
I'm now at the last 2nd week of school and let me
tell you. I'M SO GLAD IT'S GOING TO BE OVER, at least
for one semester. I can't wait for it to end! Why you might
ask? Is it that bad? You know, funny thing is that i was
quite excited to go back to school and all at the beginning.
Then when the assignments started flying around, i was like
sian to the max. Specially for this class called screenwriting.
Every week i'm supposed to write a screenplay excerise with
different restriction. New ideas every week, fresh stories each
time and meeting the required requirements. I don't even
have so many ideas to write monthly much less weekly.
And we have to read it out in class aloud and the prof on the
spot will give comments on it. How fun is that? Plus i'm not
a writer by professional for heaven's sake. I'm a photographer!
My language is more visual than words. And so, i hate wednesday
(brain storming time) and thursday (screenwriting class).However
bad i made it seem, I'm glad i got my prof because he does have
experience in it and he gives us good valid and useful pointers on
how to improve.

So a few more final assignments to kill and that's it! Holiday. Back
to earning money and saving for next sem school fees! Seriously
, now, i prefer to be working than studying.

Besides that, just 2 weeks ago, we have a school outing to the
Inaugural 3DX - 3D film and technology exhibition. We were
treated to a couple of 3D movies (those you put the specs on)
that are going to be release next year. I have to tell you, i'm
very excited about this new technology. I can't wait to see the
movies from the trailers they showed us! Jeffery Katsenberg was
one of the speakers for the opening. Brandon Fraser was there
too. One of the highlights for me was when i went to watch U2-3D.
It's a U2 concert shot in 3D. It blew my mind. I can't really explain
to you, and also more like i'm lazy to describe, you just have to
experience yourself. It's like the army. There's only so much i can
about it, but when you experience it first hand, it's different. It
changes your life. I bought tickets for BLK A Pictures too. I
persuaded them to take a look at the newest and latest development
in film. And they too, are blown away by it.

Recently, i posted a comment on facebook that i'm lusting for the new macbook pro.

And guess what. MY ibook died on me on Friday!

I've got work to do man. That's not good.

As much as i want the MBP, i have no money for that.

haha.. sorry for the cobwebs. I've always wanted to be spiderman.
But.. then again, i think i'll rather be batman. He's the richest man
of all the superheroes.

Anyway, So.. what have i been up.. let me start from my birthday?

On my birthday.. i was working! I went to a couple of places
in singapore to look for locations to shoot for 2 Music Videos.
At the same time, i had like 5 assignments due on that thursday
but i haven't done any of it as of wedesday, the day before the it
was due!

The Music video productions happened on the 12-14 Oct.
Anything before that was prepping, casting, script adjustments
location scouting, calling etc.. It's kinda mad deadlines.

During the 3 days of production, 45 hours were spend on set
filming only. I stayed overnight in the office from sat til thurs.
Anyway, this is the artist that the MV is for.

hecka of a week

Well, i've started school now for the first week.
And assignments have already been fired to us.
I've got 5 modules this semester this month and
it seems that, it's going to be abit harder than
i have expected it to be.

On wednesday, i was invited to The Days Gala Premiere
with BLK A Pictures. It's a first time director debut feature
film. Have to say that it's a applaudable effort on the part
everyone involved in the show. The Art direction was perfect
and it kinda reminded me of secondary school life as well.

So followed by 8am! class on thurs and a full day of class on friday.
Finally had the wrap party for august 29 at timbre but i have to leave
early because i got a wedding shoot on sunday and the call time is 6am!
So, it's another 6am-11pm kinda wedding shoot.
I really don't like weddings that starts so early... :S

Sunday, spent my morning in church and return some rental stuff
in the afternoon. While waiting to return the rental stuff, i drop my
phone and the screen is crapped. sigh. have to get it to service asap.
That aside, i have to head back to my assignments
already. woohoo.. student life is good. student life and work life.
best of both worlds, my arse.

1st day of school

Starting today, i'm a student again!
Today i will have my first lesson with David worth
on an all too familiar subject called production planing.

During the orientation/get to know your lecturers session,
He mentioned that making a film is quite like conducting
an orchestra. The conductor have to study the score well and
be familiar with each part of the score, and yet still interpret the
music written on the 250gsm paper filled with lines
and a language not everyone can read.

A producer will have to break down the script, know the different
part of the story well, and interpret what is being written accurately
to provide an excellent story to your audience.

Film-making is liken to an ice berg.
10 % of the effort put into it can only be seen.
The red carpet, celebrities, final product etc.
But like the ice berg, the main body which consists
of a good 90% is below the water, where most do not
pay attention too or realises the importance of it.

To all out there, making a movie, even if it's a B grade
movie, is not as simple as it seems. It's easy for you to
sit there and watch, but to have it done is another issue altogether.

A complete jigsaw puzzle is a sight to behold
but to complete one is a task most withhold.

On that date, i am officially a student again, on a teacher's day.
I have no idea what's in store except for the iphone which
i'm still trying to debate if it's a need or a want.

Back to school part 4
Location of set: Ngee Ann Polytechnic
Starring: me and a whole new bunch of dudes/ss i probably never
met before.

On that note, i kinda understand how some of my friends felt when
they were doing their diploma. Most of us were, then, 17-20 yrs
and they were probably 23-25yrs old. The cycle has changed.
Now i'm 25 infiltrating a place consists mainly of 17-20 years old.

Man, i feel old. But i'm not complaining. Just a weird feeling.

At this point of time, I'm looking at my august calender.
I might be really busy. Which is good. I haven't been
so busy for a while and the price for being this busy
doesn't seem too bad too. :D

Anyway, last saturday i covered the wedding of Rod & Faith.
By far, this is the best wedding i covered. I really like
weddings that are filled with close knitted family and friends.
In a nice garden setting, hanging out with each other, speeches
over the lunch table, self written vows, unreserved emotions
and many smiles! Many pretty girls will be a plus for me. :D

If you are singaporean and you're reading this blog, you should
already know that most weddings in singapore are, a long day filled
with many activities and traditions. Speaking of traditions, i wonder
sometimes, if the couple going through all the ceremony really understood
the significance of it or are they just going through the motion.
If it's the latter, the whole act is nothing but an act. Even if it's an act
to please the in-laws (or maybe out-laws in the future tense), the essence
of the whole ceremony shouldn't have escaped through the gaps of time and age.

Would you question, then, why we do things that are completely meaningless?

My answer is we don't. In an efficient world, anything without purpose are
eliminated. Without purpose, whatever effort put into any imaginable
ceremony/work are nothing but a complete waste of time and resources.

So that lead me to think.

Is everything that exist, living or non-living, systems, methods, formulas or
whatever you can think of, exist for a single or multiple purpose(s)?

in the office on a saturday

I just stepped into my office 30mins ago after returning
equipments i rented out for a job. This job was over friday
and saturday at Fullerton Hotel Presidential suite. It's a Christian
Dior event for exclusive people. Total of 4 x 2hrs session.

Sounds cool? The suite is cool! Maybe next time, if i'm getting
married in Singapore, can hold my wedding there. It's quite big.

Work is crazy. Totally zapped up my energy.

Some people will ask, in classic singlish, "take pictures only what.
So tiring meh?"

You have no idea. It's not that it's physically tiring, although it does
require some physical stamina. Why?

If there's a studio session, you will have to transport the equipment,
load/unload x 2, set up and tear down. However, if your shoot do not
require studio set up, you can conserve your energy for the standing
through out the whole event.

What is the main ingredient to make a photographer tired then?
Mental fatique.

While shooting, aka taking pictures, a photographer's mind is always
working hard. He takes effort to be aware of the situation around
him, program schedule, deliverables, sensitivity to people, equipment settings etc.
Many things goes through the mind of a photographer while he
goes around snapping away. As time drags on, the mind eventually tires.
He who notices that then take more mental strength to overcome
that mental fatique. By the end of the event/shoot, the mind either suffers
from over-exertion or basking in the reserves fuel until the stage of over-exertion.

And of cause, as with all things on earth, not all thing will go according to
plan thus a photographer must also be flexible to ever changing situations
and most changes requires problem solving skill in place to still meet the
job requirement.

ok ok folks! i'm back!!
almost one month since i blogged! haha.
Sorry. Life's bit mundane and so, there's
nothing much to blog about :D

well well, to recap what you miss out for the
past month.

Nothing.

I'm currently serving my 2nd week of In Camp Training
which is more like, In Camp Working.
My post as a reservist is exactly the same as during my
NSF days. A photographer for pioneer mag!
I can almost hear birdie screaming "wah lao eh".

Tried out the new camera they bought. I love the sound
that it makes when i gently applied some pressure on the
sensitive spot, on the body.

My namecards should be arriving this week and that's exciting.
My website, is still under construction but you'll be sure to
know about it as i will definitely blog about it on the day
that everything is ready.

That's that for now. will update more often since i feel guilty
that that there people reading but i ain't writing. haha.

One last thing. Lawrence introduced me to this pretty nice

Marriage

DID I MARRY THE RIGHT PERSON?

During one of our seminars, a woman asked a common question. She said, 'How do I know if I married the right person?'
I noticed that there was a large man sitting next to her so I said, 'It depends. Is that your husband?' In all seriousness, she answered 'How do you know?'

Let me answer this question because the chances are good that it's weighing on your mind.

Here's the answer.
EVERY relationship has a cycle. In the beginning, you fell in love with your spouse / partner . You anticipated their call, wanted their touch, and liked their idiosyncrasies (unconventional behavior/habit).

Falling in love with your spouse wasn't hard. In fact, it was a completely natural and spontaneous experience. You didn't have to DO anything. That's why it's called 'falling' in love... Because it's happening TO YOU.

People in love sometimes say, 'I was swept of my feet.' Think about the imagery of that __expression. It implies that you were just standing there; doing nothing, and then something came along and happened TO YOU.

Falling in love is easy. It's a passive and spontaneous experience. But after a few years of marriage, the euphoria (excitement) of love fades. It's the natural cycle of EVERY relationship. Slowly but surely, phone calls become a bother (if they come at all), touch is not always welcome (when it happens), and your spouse's idiosyncrasies, instead of being cute, drive you nuts.

The symptoms of this stage vary with every relationship, but if you think about your marriage, you will notice a dramatic difference between the initial stage when you were in love and a much duller or even angry subsequent stage.

At this point, you and/or your spouse might start asking, 'Did I marry the right person?' And as you and your spouse reflect on the euphoria of the love you once had, you may begin to desire that experience with someone else. This is when marriages breakdown. People blame their spouse for their unhappiness and look outside their marriage for fulfillment.

Extramarital fulfillment comes in all shapes and sizes. Infidelity is the most obvious. But sometimes people turn to work, a hobby, a friendship, excessive TV, or abusive substances.

But the answer to this dilemma does NOT lie outside your marriage. It lies within it. I'm not saying that you couldn't fall in love with someone else.
You could.

And TEMPORARILY you'd feel better. But you'd be in the same situation a few years later. Because (listen carefully to this):

THE KEY TO SUCCEEDING IN MARRIAGE IS NOT FINDING THE RIGHT PERSON; IT'S LEARNING TO LOVE THE PERSON YOU FOUND.

SUSTAINING love is not a passive or spontaneous experience. It'll NEVER just happen to you. You can't 'find' LASTING love. You have to 'make' it day in and day out. That's why we have the __expression 'the labor of love.' Because it takes time, effort, and energy. And most importantly, it takes WISDOM. You have to know WHAT TO DO to make your marriage work.

Make no mistake about it. Love is NOT a mystery. There are specific things you can do (with or without your spouse) to succeed with your marriage.

Just as there are physical laws of the universe (such as gravity), there are also laws for relationships. Just as the right diet and exercise program makes you physically stronger, certain habits in your relationship WILL make your marriage stronger. It's a direct cause and effect. If you know and apply the laws, the results are predictable... you can 'make' love.

Love in marriage is indeed a 'decision'... Not just a feeling.

Remember this always:

Recently, i got myself a new hard disk because my 250Gig,
after serving me for 15months have 4gig left in it :S
Anyway, the new casing looks really cool!
So yesterday at about 2pm, i took it out to format it.
Decided to do a zero disk erase and MS-dos format so that
it can be 32 bit. When i ran it, it estimated 4hours.
When i left the office at 930pm, it's only half way done!
Had to leave my lappie in the office so when i saw the
completion this morning, i was happy.

Plug it in. Another dialogue box came up.
It's the same one as yesterday!!
Meaning, all those hours were wasted?!

Searched online, called the person who sold me the HDD
so on and so forth. In the end. I decide to format it with
my MAc computer. For my next HDD, i'll get the seller
to format it to 32 bit for me. I'm too lazy to go to
Sim lim again (third time if i go) in one week.

IRONMAN

As my title suggest, it's the block buster hit IRONMAN out in the cinemas.
I think, the CGI is superb, acting and casting of Robert Jr is great.
He completely suit the role. It's the kind of show that most guys will like.
Explosions, Jericho missle, a dog-fight with two F/A 22 raptor, One on One fight with the first prototype, the gadgets, the cars, the hotties, witty humour and heroism.
Awesome. Leave your brains at home, sit down and enjoy the show. In the theatres of course.

Definitely, Maybe

Yesterday night, met up with lawrence Ong, my co-director in August 29
to watch Definitely, maybe. It was supposed to be a free movie but
to cut the long story short. It's not. haha. We had to pay for the movie in the end.

But it's worth it!

All i knew about this movie was that it was done by the person who did
Notting hill and Love actually. I was expecting a british romantic comedy
of that sorts. I was surprised. The story telling was brilliant, keeping me
at the edge my seat the whole time. The onscreen chemistry of the actors
are good too! The casting manager did a good job. You should catch it.
I don't want to type anything about the story in case you haven't watch
it and are planning to catch it soon. Both lawrence and me are quite
pleased with the show. It's hard you know. To please both of us. haha.

Another great movie we caught on saturday was bucket list.
Yeah. Been hanging out with him quite often lately.
Bucket list is good too! Had a good laugh and was a bit
teary (only me i think) at the end. There were so many good lines
in the show. There's one particular that inspired me so much i have
decided to keep it as a work philosophy. It's beautiful too.

1st day of exhibition launch

Today. I had the most eventful day.
Let's begin from thurs.

After checking out the location at 3pm,
Jim and i thought that the captions were
huge. So, i rush back to office to make
something like the gallery sort. Captions
on a compressed foam. I did up 3-4 samples
waiting to show janice at 8pm when we are
testing the video playback. When i got there,
the system was not ready so i went to accompany
kimberly for her dinner. Cut the long story short,
Janice was not coming down so i figured that
there's no point for me to rush it, so i went back
to office, got my stuff and headed home.
When i got home, it was 12 plus in the morning.
Hit the sacks as soon as i could.

Woke up at 530am. Have to get to office by 7am
to get my equipment for a shoot at 730am at suntec.
There was a traffic jam but i slept through it.
When i woke up and check the time, it was 730am!
And i'm still not at the office. Crap.
Ran down from the bus when it reaches my stop
and to the main door of my office. Key in the safety
code.

BEEP.

Rejected.

Again.

Beep.

Rejected.

Something is very wrong.
Call my boss to verify the code.

Code is correct. Check the main door lock.

Damn it! It's locked. Of all days!

Last night, we (jim & i) brought the remaining frames down
and set them in order. We took about 1.5 hrs at the place
and left for home as the poor souls from the event company
have to stay there to fix up the frames and lights.
Later at 3pm, i will be heading down again to do the test
for the video and all systems will be ready to go.

The hits of the Trailer A is not bad; all thanks to Nuffnang bloggers
or know as SPI? I don't think it meant Singapore Paranormal investigators
though. I can't really remember what it means. But thanks to them anyway.
And of course to those i send out, who might have help me in spreading
the video as well. Kamsahamida! (thank you in korean)

I think one of the hardest thing for this project is to not make it like
a "i tell you, you better listen to me" kinda message.
Ultimately, the one main message we want to say is that,
you are responsible for your life. We can't stop you from doing what
you want to do but you have to take responsibility for your actions.
Self responsibility. We don't like to be preached to so we don't want
to preach to you. If you want to know how to avoid, there are
tons of preventive/educational websites for that; if you don't know
the methods by now.

We just want to share our thoughts. Your freewill is free,
but the wrong choices will cost you and others around you.
Do whatever you please but please clean up after yourself
At least be considerate to others if you can't care bout
yourself.

So i'm excited for tomorrow except for the morning.
I have to work. sigh.

Hey all,

I haven't really told anyone about this yet but here i go.
For the past 2 years, i was working on a project and
now it's finally ready for the world. This project consists
of a short film and a photo exhibition. I co-directed and
co-wrote the script with my good friend Lawrence Ong
of Blk A picutres. Here's the trailer!

Today, i was on duty for Easter in expo.
I was thinking about what to wear.
But really, what was i thinking?

Diplomatic confrontation was as follows.

Person A : Hey, You look good today!
Did you bring a jacket?

Me: {thinking - i know the hall is cold

Nope. Why?

Person A: You are wearing white!

Me: (frowned) yeah. I'm wearing white.

Person A: But you are on duty! You'll be

Well, my quick thinking saves the day. haha.

But i was thinking, why didn't i think of that?

Then i realise, i haven't been really wearing
black or dark clothings for duty. Maybe

We all know, that it's for your benefit to clean up after yourself.
And it also benefit after others too, if you are considerate enough.

I was watching the movie Sunshine (for the 3rd time) directed by
Danny Boyle.

In the movie, there is a scene where one's mistake cost much
problems and even someone's life was taken because of that
mistake. The rest of the cast scrumbles to try to rectify that
mistake.

While i was on the way back home, this came to my mind.
I felt ticked off, upset and steaming with anger.
Why can't everyone have the courtesy to clean up after themselves?
Can't they be considerate to others?!
Why always wait until last minute then try to work things out?
You have foresight but can't you foresee the rush you will
cause by not working things out earlier! Even if i do my part,
I will still have to clean up after you because you are part of the work.
And on and on i whine and vented my anger internally.

Then i hear something inside me. Still small voice.
Jesus cleaned up my mess too.
Tomorrow is good friday; 2000 years ago, Jesus
came to earth and cleaned up man's mistake (sin),
including mine. Amazing how God speaks if you listen.

Last (for now) overseas as a JAS

Yesterday, i made the last overseas trip with Seth and James.
I've taken the liberty to name us JAS. James, Alvin and Seth.
James is going off this month for his bachelor in MC. haha.
So, he suggested one last trip before he leaves many heart broken here.
Due to budget and time constraint, we went to our neighbouring country
with my brand new $70 passport! Other than being cheated by the taxis
there, we had quite a good time. So, photos photos. No group shot
of us though. Just random stuff.

gastronomic adventures of medication

A month ago, i went to the docs for a check for my stomach.
My aunt was concerned about the high frequency of gastric
attacks i've been having, thus i had a camera stuck into
me to check it out.

It was a interesting experience. I didn't feel anything
going into my stomach but i feel a hand went into
my pocket though. But it was good service!
Mount Elizabeth.. but of course right?

So, i was put on 2 weeks medication and 2 weeks
without so to see how i will cope without.

Yesterday was the follow up from that visit.
I was once again put on 3 weeks medication.
I wasn't expecting that but i got that.
Twice a day, half an hour before meal.

So, twice a day, half an hour before meal,
i stick into my pocket and ate some coins.

The ironic thing is, i'm paying money to
eat something i hate so as to be able to
eat the things i want to.

Life.

gastric attack

hey all,

A short update after so long. Was pretty busy and a little wee bit lazy
in updating my blog :D The next entry, i will put up photos when
i was China i think 3-4weeks ago. :D

Anyway, i had sudden gastric attack last night due to food indigestion.
Man, it hurt and i have to endure for 1hour. Usually my gastric
only happen why i didn't eat but i had my dinner so when it came
i was caught off guard. Plus the fact i didn't feel hungry but yet
i felt the pain coming. So i tried to get some food but it didn't help
and i felt like vomitting. Thank God sabrina was with me, she
helped me to call a cab so i can go back to my family doc.

Then, the medicine cleared my excessive food, big time!
Had a hard time sleeping as well. Drifting in and out of
sleep. If you had fever before, you would find it hard to
sleep because it seems that your head is so hot that it hard to find
a cooling spot on your pillow. Exactly how i felt last night.

Well, i'm feeling better now but have to watch over my weak
stomach. According to the doctor, i have to eat my meals
at regular hour and the same food! e.g. if i usually eat
bread in the morning, i will keep to that. if i eat rice
in the afternoon, then i have to eat that for lunch. etc.
Sounds ridiculous. But oh well, i have to follow that for now at least.

This saturday will be my Dad's birthday.
I just heard news from my mum that
we will be celebrating his birthday
this sat with a birthday cake.
It came as somewhat a shock
to me though. I tried recalling
but it seems that i have no memory
of celebrating my dad's birthday with
a birthday cake and birthday song.

I was then led to think that
we are the typical asian chinese,
conservatively showing love
in the most reserved way
(emphasied version).
Well, plus the fact that you
could come up with a brilliant
script based on my family history.
Part dramatic, part chaotic,
part complicated yet with
sweet memories of childhood.

So, it's going to be somewhat awkard
and somewhat good. I don't know what
to expect but i thank God that somehow,
it seems that slowly, the air at home is
buzzling.

A couple of months back, i did something
which i never thought i dare do.
So on the pretense of a photo competition,
armed with my mum's brilliant idea, i broke
some personal barrier. I actually directed a
shoot with my mum and dad.
It's quite a unique experience.
I really didn't even dare ask my dad about
it. I had to ask my mum to go talk to
my dad. Then, brought them out and
took photos of them.

Below is the photo i submitted for the Great
Eastern "Life is great" photo competition 2007.
Although i didn't win any monetary prize, i felt,
i've won still.

Hey all,

Well, long absence was because of very busy schedule.
I've finished on the reshoot of August 29 (short film) on friday 210907.
Prior to this, i was preparing for the production.
So, i wrapped on friday night and saturday morning back to work at 10am.
CHEC photography students were graduating so we are preparing an exhibition
of their works which happened yesterday. So, finally, i have a breather since
SOT. But, i guess, the exhibition is not what i am really into, so the video i did,
according to my boss, was not good enuff, so kena whacked. haha. sigh.
That's me. When i feel used, then i won't take the task too seriously.
Also seems like one desire of my heart might not come to pass
after all which is a killer blow.
With all this reasons, it's a good excuse to get out of town for 3days!
No pictures on this post, but i guess the next one will have because of
my holiday. First time going overseas with friends and on my birthday!
see you guys when i'm back!

3 reasons why there are evil in the world

a) People's choices
Evil is not God's fault. If it is, repentance will be ridiculous and unreasonable.
God create evil and yet require us to repent across it.

Romans 5:12,
Therefore, just as through one man (adam) sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.

Why couldn't God step in and stop all this insanity and instantly make the world a place of peace to live in?

Because of how much He love us.

Evil is allowed in the world because our freewill is more precious (valuable)
than not having evil in the world. If God steps in now, He is forcing
whereas relationships should be out of freewill since it is relational by nature.
There can be no relationships with robots, mechanical machines, toys etc.
The freewill to choose to return or not return love is the basis of relationship.

b) God's commitment to justice.
If God is so powerful, why did He still allow evil in the world?
If you see a girl going to be knock down by a car, why is He silent about it?
God cannot stop one war without every war, or stopping one evil without getting rid of every evil.

Isaiah 53:10,
10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him;
He has put Him to grief.
When You make His soul an offering for sin,
He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,
And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.

The "Him" is refering to Jesus and this is written hundred of years before Jesus came and died (for us) on the Cross.

In temptation, when you choose God instead of your temptation (old ways), in God's sight, that is very precious!

c) God is Wise.
Religion forces you to live a life of holy life by works, rules, laws etc. But God He let you choose!
You decide what motivates you.

I learnt this in school a couple of days ago and i'm once again blown away by God's love for us all!
This lesson is one good lesson!

It's has come and gone.
This year's lineup is the best so far!
Delirious with Don Moen and Pst Phil!!!
I have been looking forward to it
for the longest time! I enjoyed it.
But, sunday, i was tasked to
take photos for harvest times
interview with Don Moen.
I realised that Don Moen on stage
is quite different off stage. On stage,
i formed a certain stereotype about him but
during the interview session, I have to admit
that i was shocked and amazed at hearing
his stories in the interview. I have a new found
respect for this great man.

I feel so small beside him.

I didn't have time to take with martin smith but oh well,
it's ok. I'm happy with the way things are. Only Samatha, Melvin
Jessel, Dave, KC and i don't know who else know. haha.
Cool day but tiring day!

My dearest dearest chewie,

It has been 10 years since i first laid eyes on you.
You came into my life as a surprise. Seeing you being
only 2 month old, sleeping quietly in the little
cardboard box. Chris bought you in secret and incurred
Mom and Dad's wrath. Alfred, Chris and me took turn
to take care of you. Teaching you how to do your business
at the newspapers, how not to wet our mattresses while we
bathed, taking turns to bring you for a shower when you
smell after sweating in our hot little 3 room flat and
not bite the sofas and our shoes.

Thank you for waiting at the door for us when we
are not home. It feels really good at least to see
someone excited that we're home. I will miss stroking
you as you lie on your back.I will miss running up and
down the house playing catching with you.
I will miss playing fetch with you. I will miss
having to hug you to bed. I will miss you sleeping on
my tummy especially when Dad is so angry with you as
you sought refugee with me.

Do you know, when you were only a few years old,
I had dreams that you were old and you left me,
i would cry and pray that it would not happen.
But as the years went, the phyiscal and mental toll
of taking care of you have numbed this feeling.
Even until times where i wish that we never got you.

Right now, i wish you were alive but yet at the same time
seeing you being tortured by old age, i rather you not.
As i saw you last night, i pray to God to take you home.
I really hate to see you being tortured like this.
You have lost your appetite and refused to eat for a
couple of days. I have never seen and felt you in such a
way, so skinny and weak.

And i had to be the first this morning to see you
struggle in your last few moments and watch you
breathe your last. I'm sorry for all the pain that
you have to bear. I pray that one day, i'll be able
to see you again, healthy, alive and happy.

Until then, my dear chewie, i will miss you and like
what i would say before i sleep in the early days
with you lying in my arms

Lessons i've learned

Been rather busy lately and really, didn't have much to talk
about. Life is quite routine to a certain extend. I felt, i didn't
have anything interesting to blog about.

Since i'm back again, must be something to tell whoever is
reading this right? Well, the past week was quite a week.
I went over to Sukdai on sunday with alot of taiwanese!
I get to know them really better from this trip from last
minute pracs, eating awesome breakfast together,
sharing about the whole trip etc. Thank God for the chance
to be able to serve and mingle with them. Make me
miss taiwan. haha. And a bunch of them have just
flown to taiwan today. They should have just touched
down now. I learned alot at Sukdai. How awesome is
the grace of God. The sound may be bad, there might
not have enough time to practice, playing in wrong key,
drum pedal getting stuck in your jeans (and many more),
the presence of God is still present. We simply just did
our best and God did the rest.

Back in Singapore, God taught me a life lesson yesterday
and today. I was bascially thrown into deep water to swim.
Last minute (within 30-60mins) got to get up stage to play
for morning P&W and ministry in school. I kinda suck la. ha.
But as i was playing, all i say is, God, i'm doing my best, all
i can. You guide me, help me to flow. Even though, i didn't
do like the best, but i felt the grace of God. I was a little
discouraged but i know, i've did my best and i couldn't
or would have done it better in that situation.
I personally experienced the coming to the end of oneself
and letting God take over for 3 times this week.
We need this experiences sometimes more than 3 times
in a week. We need it everyday. God's amazing grace.

My body has been reacting pretty strangely this few days.
It seems that the more hours i sleep, the more tired i'll be.
The less i sleep, i become more awake even though i am still tired.
My eye bags, with the lesser sleep that i am having, is becoming worse.

I brought my camera out today to help my friend take a couple of photos.
Felt the urge to shoot something on the way.
As i look at it, i remember what this international student told me a couple days ago.

me: "so what do you like?"
student: "Scenery. where in singapore can i go?
me: "There's not much scenery.
As compared to your homeland.
Singapore not a place for scenery.
But you can try the botanical garden though."

Labour Day indeed

On Labour Day, most employer and employees would chose to spend this day
resting at home, shopping, at the movies; bascially anything except for any
labourous work.

ON this day. In the span of 5.5 hours, i took pictures of 120+/- groups of people,
2hours of transporting to and fro, and 1.5-2hrs of setting up.

From the time i started my day to the end, it was a grand total of 14hours.
2hours short of my record breaking 'most worked day'.

I saw a couple of friends from taiwan. It's nice to see them again.
It's their turn to enjoy after 2 full months
of hard work, travelling up and down taiwan, bringing us around.

Saw Jovy as well, but too bad too busy cannot catch up. Wonder
where is she flying to today.

Then i woke up today to a rejection letter from NTU. humph.
Been thinking since i read the letter; what's next now?
Didn't really think about that because i was quite confident
in getting a place. haha. Contigency plans not in place, apparently.

What to do now indeed.

I really miss taiwan.
One thing i realised when i came back is how
our landscape differed . I have always heard
the phrase that Singapore is Clean and Green.
I haven't realised how green it really is.
I was just so used to seeing it everyday
to realise that. Familiarity. The culprit

a day late

Right now as i'm writing this entry, i'm in the bullet train towards
kaoshiong listening to Augustana's boston. It feels like how the movies
always portray it to be. A long road trip to somewhere unfamiliar.
Well, it's no totally unfamiliar since i've been here just 2-3weeks ago.

But it feels good to be out of the country again. Even though for a short
while. Thank you God, really appreciate it! April is going to be another busy month starting with SOT.
Seriously, I'm not really looking forward to the orientation. I hate orientations. I hope i can stay in taiwan abit longer; or rather, stay away from home a bit longer.
Travelling. Really love it. I'm actually quite adventurous at heart.

Hey fiona, if you are reading this, all the best to your involvement
in the feature. It's going to be fun but tiring!! I'll keep my promise to

I'm so glad that the production for my short film is finally over!!
Kinda of miss it, but still glad it's over. Now, it's in post production
and until i see the 1st cut. Can't wait!!!
Well, don't think anyone who were involved totally in this shoot
will be reading this but still, i'm really appreciate all your help,

I've been very busy since i touched down in singapore.

The problem of being a photographer is that most times you have to
take your pictures yourself.

After we send our dirty laundry to wash, we went goofing around, in the middle of the road.

If you look closely, my mp3 protective screen is broken. dunno how and when.

And so, after hualian, we took a 45mins flight to Kaoshiong. Most part i was
sleeping like a baby. We loaded up the bus, headed to a very nice hotel!
Packed and left for tainan on coach. It was an hour's trip and once again,
i slept like a baby. Meeting's over, took the ride back to kaoshiong and stayed
for 3days 2 nights. My blog is abit lagging becoz right now, i'm actually in taizhong. haha. We'll come to that soon. :D

Hey hey,
Sorry haven't blog for a long time.
My apple is still with the docs. sian.
Well, i'm now in Taiwan, Kaoshiong.
Today is my 5th day in Taiwan and the
weather is getting warmer. I miss
the coolness of taipei on the first night.
Have to thank Jessel and Seth for their
computer. But it feels very good to have
friends here as well!

The presence of God is so tangible here.
Almost everytime i'm shooting, especially
during worship, i feel like crying as well.
Seeing the hunger of the people reaching to
God is really a sight. It's even better at
the end of the message when the message
completely blow out their mind. When they
lift up their hands into the air to reach
out to our Abba Father, One can almost hear
the silent yet loud cry of conviction in
their body. God. Thank you for using us,
really.

Last night, i fell into a deep sleep with
a dream i can't really remember. I think
i am really tire. I didn't even know where
i was when i opened my eyes.

It's really a great experience to be here
in missions. The last mission i went to
was totally different from this current one.
I prefer this current one, because it's more
comfortable. haha! Nice food, nice scenery and
cool weather. But during service, the weather
always change. Stress for alot of people. haha.

Before i left for mission, i wanted to blog
about this consecutive dream (in 2 nights)
i had.

What does it mean when you dream of the
person you once had? Twice in a roll.
I don't think i have really gotten over
her. I still think of her sometimes
,right here, 4 hours away from home.
I don't think it's vice versa though.

The saying 'a pictures speak a thousand
words' will work better here in sharing
the experience.
